THYSIAS
Graece θυσιὰς, vox olim Baccharum vociferantium. Hesychius, Θυσιάδες, ἔνθεοι. τὴν τῶ Βακχῶν φωνην` θυσιάδα φησὶν. Unde Θυὰς, i. e. furens, Baccharum nomen. Lutatius ad Papinium Theb. l. 5. v. 92. Thyas est Baccha, ἀπὸ θυσιάδος, ἢ θύειν Idem Hesych. θύει, μαίνεται, ἐνθουσιᾷ. Vide Casp. Barthium Animadversion. ad dictum Papinii locum, ut et in voce Thyades.
